Preparation for IOPP survey on a merchant vessel

 

  • Validity of the IOPP certificate checked kept ready for surveyor.
  • Entry in ORB checked , sign of engineers and master as required 
  • All sludge disposal receipts to shore reception facilities to be attached with ORB.
  • Calculate the sludge formation, which should not exceed the limits as given in marpol.
  • Incinerating time, incinerated waste oil amount, remainder of waste oil in waste oil tank should be reasonable. ( If incinerator is fitted on board and approved / approval cert should be checked ).
  • Incinerator kept ready for demonstration, such as heating of waste oil tank, alarms, control and functional test, done prior to survey. ( If fitted on board )
  • OWS working procedure should be known to all engineers ,OWS 15 ppm alarm , three way valve should be operational and presentable to surveyor , All required parts of OWS should be sealed.
  • Section of discharge pipe removed and free from oil residues.
  • ODM checked for 15-ppm alarm and automatic stopping.
  • High-level alarms of sludge tank, waste oil tank and bilge holding tank checked.
  • Spare filter for OWS must be kept onboard.
  • USCG Notice posted near OWS and bilge pumping out station.
  •   ODMCS in good working condition ( If fitted ).
  • Pumping and piping systems are in good working condition.
  • SOPEP plan is updated and endorsed.
  • SOPEP inventory should be up to date. 
  • Keep all BDN ( bunker delivery notes ) ready for surveyor.
  • Sounding records of all bunker tanks.
