Condition Assessment Program ( CAP )

1. The Condition Assessment Program is a voluntary service. CAP is applicable to oil tankers  and

bulk carriers of 15 years of age and above, but may be used for other vessels at different ages.

2. Condition Assessment Program provides an independent evaluation of the condition of a vessel

from which third parties can assess the suitability of an asset for a charter based on its current

condition as opposed to its age.

3. The program provides a charterer with a technical evaluation of the physical condition and

maintenance of a vessel above the standard requirements for class.

4. The Condition Assessment Program(CAP) is a specialized survey program which offers owners a

detailed assessment of a ship's actual condition, based on strength evaluation, and fatigue strength

analysis as well as a detailed on site systematic inspection of the hull, machinery and cargo systems.

5. With the CAP, owners can be confident that they have an accurate assessment of the ships actual

condition, especially as far as the condition compares with the normal Class requirements.

6. The CAP applies, in principle, to oil tankers, chemical carriers and bulk carriers, though other types

of ships may be covered, provided that the CAP is properly modified.

7. The CAP consists of two major parts which can be applied independently depending on the needs of

     the applicant.

(NO.1) CAP-HULL (Condition Assessment for Hull Structures)
(NO.2) CAP-MACHINERY/CARGO SYSTEM (Condition Assessment for Machinery and Cargo

                Systems)

8. The results of condition assessment are clearly identified using a rating system. (The program

includes a detailed survey of the vessel's hull structure including verification of gaugings as well as

extensive testing of the vessel's machinery, equipment and cargo systems. This information,

combined with a strength and fatigue engineering analysis, leads to a numeric rating being assigned

to the vessel ranging from 1 (Very Good) to 4 (Unsatisfactory). )
