Marine Radar Theory4: WHAT IS TRACE

TRACE IN MARINE RADAR :

- Once receiver receive echo from target same will be plotted on PPI.

- On PPI  a bright spot is made to move in radial path from the centre of PPI to circumference of PPI.

- The visible radial line created by the moving spot from centre of PPI  to circumference of PPI is called Trace.

-One TRACE is created for every pulse send out through the scanner.

- So that the number of trace create per second is equal to PRF [ Pulse repetition  frequency ] .

WHILE LOOKING AT  MARINE RADAR PPI AN OBSERVER CAN SEE A RADIAL LINE GOING FROM PPI CENTRE  TOWARD THE CIRCUMFERENCE OF PPI , THERE ARE TRACE.
